Recovery Zone, Vol. 1: Making Changes that Last - The Internal Tasks ReviewThough I received this book at a seminar that Patrick Carnes gave, I would definitely purchase it. His talk was fantastic, discussing broader implications and causes of addiction and is largely duplicated in this book. In it he describes what is necessary to live a successful rewarding life in recovery. Far beyond stopping the addictions, this book helps uncover deeper patterns of addictive behavior (of any kind), look at those patterns and find the pain behind them--not simply to prevent relapse, but to live a richer, more successful (however one wants to define successful) life. He strongly suggests doing the workbook with a therapist or partner at least as its important to have another person's perspective (given that addicts are exceptionally good at deceiving themselves, I believe). This book is great for anyone who is a few years into recovery (or more) and still looking for more from their life.
