Raven Dancer: Don't Mess Around With The Law of Attraction ReviewWhew, dude, that's a fast paced book. I bought it for my daughter who's in to all that magical woman vs evil stuff, but I ran out of summer reading and picked it up. It's a pretty good beach read and I even with my short attention span I can finish a chapter.Kind of like if you wonder how Hermione ever ended up at Hogwarts, this follows "Ashton" to "Shrewsbury" but you get the connection (resonance?). Great first person characterization and of course you have to love the duality of New York and New Mexico, or whatever void Shrewsbury is in.
OK OK the book jumps around a lot, but the character remains the same. Come to think of it, it's sort of two books because the scene and characters change half way through, and we go from the occasional raven dancing to coyotes and omulettes and dream weaving, but it keeps it moving.
My biggest complaint is that it all wraps up neatly in the big scene and good triumphs over evil with help of your friends. Would have liked to have seen some mirrored armadillos or a giant white whale falling on the karate teacher's head.
If you're into karate, new york, native american lore, or adalescent thought, this might just be a must read. And I like the short chapters. Would make a really good audio book for someone with a short commute because you could "read" a chapter each ride.
Good luck and good reading!Raven Dancer: Don't Mess Around With The Law of Attraction OverviewOnce you get inside the mind of 'Ashton Lightfoot,' you can never get out.'Raven Dancer,' compiles the journals of a hotheaded dancer, karate champ, and a die-hard romantic.Ashton loves to be in love, loves to hate, and falls into one metaphysical fairy tale after another.'Raven Dancer,' takes you on her little runaway train that delightfully begins as a trashy romance novel, then hits its stride as a hard-hitting and, dare I say, funny-metaphysical mystery absolutely guaranteed to create smiles and even a sense of joyous wonderment. You may end up asking, 'Am I Ashton Lightfoot?' but only if you're a girl. Nevertheless you'll never want to put down the book if you are a new age kind of guy. It's all about romance, fun, mystery and lots of pain. 'Raven Dancer,' or, Ashton's private journal, asks us all to ask and ask and ask, 'What theuck are we made of?' For those who found 'Twilight,' and 'Harry Potter,' hard to digest, 'Raven Dancer,' is a welcome breath of fresh air in a world that makes fools look wise, and stuff like that.A bit of a warning; this is absolutely a novel for women who want to be girls again, and girls who want to be real a little too soon. Parental suggestions are encouraged.Heather Lightfoot, Publishing AgentThe Creativity Institute llcWatch for "Coming to You Live From Your University Town or Broadcast Station"tm(a production of The Creativity Institute llc)
