The Protector's Emerald: Octobers, Book 4 ReviewLoved the first three books. But readers should know this series gets better and better. Start with Time Crystal (book 1), and work your way to this one. You won't be sorry. I know I wasn't. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say the ending is worth it.The Protector's Emerald: Octobers, Book 4 OverviewIn the town of Hobble, October never ends. As soon as Hallows Eve is over, the calendars turn back to October 1st, and the enchanted wonders begin again . . .In this fourth adventure of the Octobers series, twelve-year old Moony Jarman has worked hard all his life, sweeping the floors of the Candletin Inn, shoveling hay in the stables, and taking care of his family. All the while, his remarkable abilities have gone unnoticed . . . until this October. After receiving a mysterious invitation, Moony is given the extraordinary responsibility of protecting Hobble. But first he must overcome his greatest fear-Death. Only then can he choose the path that honors the greater good of Hobble, and rescue the missing children from the armies of the Vothlor. But can he really save his beloved town?THE PROTECTOR'S EMERALD is Book 4 in the innovative new OCTOBERS series by J.H. Reynolds and Craig Cunningham. Journey through the same October through four different perspectives. Before reading THE PROTECTOR'S EMERALD, read THE TIME CRYSTAL (Book 1), THE HERMIT'S MANSION (Book 2), THE WATCHTOWER SECRET (Book 3) to solve all the mysteries of the Vanishing, and embark upon an adventure unlike any you've taken before.

The Watchtower Secret: Octobers, Book 3 ReviewScooter and Stokely Scabbins may be my favorite characters so far. Not to take anything away from Notch or Starflyer, but these 2 are hilarious. (It's hard to compare the characters, since they are all so different.) From an all-out brawl in a cider bar, to spying on dangerous characters, to being locked up in prison, this book has it all. The fun part is starting with Time Crystal, though. So go read that one if you haven't, and then work your way to book 3. This series is different than anything else out there. The Watchtower Secret: Octobers, Book 3 OverviewIn the town of Hobble, October never ends. As soon as Hallows Eve is over, the calendars turn back to October 1st, and the enchanted wonders begin again . . .In this third adventure of the Octobers series, Scooter and Stokely Scabbins live on a pumpkin farm with the other dozen members of their family. Always up to mischief, they've never given much thought to being twins. But they soon discover that their bond gives them unique powers. After witnessing what they believe is a murder near the forbidden watchtower, the Scabbins twins become wrapped up in a whirlwind of mysteries. They soon discover that there is more to the watchtower than ghost stories and an escaped murderer--the Vothlor are growing stronger by the day, and working within the walls of Hobble. The twins come to suspect the darkness may even be living inside the retired pumpkin farmer who creeps through the swampland at night, and is rumored to have worked with the Vothlor during the Old War.The more involved the twins become in Hobble's secrets, the more they realize their lives are in great danger. But what if their mischief has taken them too far this time?THE WATCHTOWER SECRET is Book 3 in the innovative new OCTOBERS series by J.H. Reynolds and Craig Cunningham. Journey through the same October through four different perspectives. In addition to THE WATCHTOWER SECRET, read THE TIME CRYSTAL (Book 1), THE HERMIT'S MANSION (Book 2), and the PROTECTOR'S EMERALD (Book 4) to solve all the mysteries of the Vanishing, and embark upon an adventure unlike any you've taken before.

The Hermit's Mansion: Octobers, Book 2 ReviewThe Time Crystal was excellent, but this series seems to be getting better. The more you read, the more you fall in love with the world and its characters. Hermit's Mansion picks up right where TC left off, only with a few different characters, and many of the same. This series is unique, in that you are seeing the same October from four different perspectives. It's like traveling back in time, and seeing things in a whole new way. Love it.The Hermit's Mansion: Octobers, Book 2 OverviewIn the town of Hobble, October never ends. As soon as Hallows Eve is over, the calendars turn back to October 1st, and the enchanted wonders begin again . . .In this second adventure of the Octobers series, boy-genius Starflyer Stevens is tired of living in the shadow of his overprotective parents. He isn't allowed to go to school with other kids, he can't be outside after dark, and worst of all, he is forbidden to go trick-or-treating every Hallows Eve night in a town that's always October. His only friend in Hobble is Botty, a homemade robot. When strange things start occurring in town, Starflyer's curiosity leads him to investigate the truth about the hermit of Critchfield Mansion-a man rumored to have been dead for fifty years. Soon, Starflyer begins to suspect that the hermit's ghost may have something to do with the recent vanishings of the town's children. But the boy's suspicions lead to dangers beyond his wildest dreams. All the while, Starflyer and Botty must carry on their investigation without his parents finding out about their secret adventure. In the end, Starflyer discovers there is something far more wicked taking place in Hobble than anyone ever could have imagined.THE HERMIT'S MANSION is Book 2 in the innovative new OCTOBERS series by J.H. Reynolds and Craig Cunningham. Journey through the same October through four different perspectives. In addition to THE HERMIT'S MANSION, read THE TIME CRYSTAL (Book 1), THE WATCHTOWER SECRET (Book 3), and the PROTECTOR'S EMERALD (Book 4) to solve all the mysteries of the Vanishing, and embark upon an adventure unlike any you've taken before.

The Satanic Nurses: And Other Literary Parodies ReviewI haven't laughed so much since the last time I laughed this much, which never happened before. This book is HILARIOUS! If you like literary satire, this book is for you. The Harry Potter spoof had be falling off my chair. Unfortunately I was driving at the time. When I woke up in the hospital I asked the staff where my copy of THE SATANIC NURSES was. They thought I was making fun of them, so they had me operated on by Dr. Thousxisamspams. I think he was the guy who killed Andy Warhol. Anyway, during the operation he started reading the book, which he must have found somewhere (it was probably MY copy), which made him laugh so much (I think it was the piece called She's a Right Ho, Jeeves, the send-up of P.G. Wodehouse) that he botched the operation, and now I have a dirty grin stuck on my face. Anyway, the book is pretty funny. But read it on a train or something. The Satanic Nurses: And Other Literary Parodies Overview

Agnes Moorehead: A Bio-Bibliography (Bio-Bibliographies in the Performing Arts) ReviewKear has done fairly well over all, but several of her reference sections are incomplete. Also, she seems to go out of her way to print reviews of Miss Moorehead's films/TV appearances that are negative and in some cases downright insulting. My overall impression is that Kear, as she did her research, began (for whatever reason) to dislike Miss Moorehead. In spite of these glaring and obvious flaws, there is some good information here, I just wish it had been put together by someone with a little more repect and admiration for her esteemed subject.Agnes Moorehead: A Bio-Bibliography (Bio-Bibliographies in the Performing Arts) OverviewThis bio-bibliography provides an overview of the life and career of the noted actress Agnes Moorehead. A brief biography discusses her midwestern upbringing as well as her academic background and early struggles in establishing her career. The biography also discusses Moorehead's later career successes in addition to her professional and personal relationships. The largest portion of the book is devoted to detailed listings of her work in film, television, radio and theatre. In many cases, these listings include synopses, cast listings and credits, review excerpts, and other information. Her most celebrated appearances are described and discussed at length. These appearances include the films, Citizen Kane and Magnificent Ambersons; television programs, "The Twilight Zone," "The Wild, Wild West," and "Bewitched;" radio shows "The March of Time," "The Shadow," and "Sorry, Wrong Number;" and her one-woman stage production as well as her work in Don Juan in Hell. This work is a valuable addition to the performing arts series.

Tom, Dick, and Debbie Harry ReviewHow can you not love the name of this book? I mean -- come on. "Tom Dick and Debbie Harry" - how clever is that? I give Jessica Adams a big thumbs up on this one. I loved her previous work - "Single White E-Mail" and I was really happy to get a copy of this her new book. This hilarious romp is set within the structure of a wedding and that leads to some smart and sexy scenes. I found it really original and different. I haven't read anything else like it - and I have read a LOT of english/australian/american books written by young women. So, I give it high praise for originality.
My only complaint is the sometimes disjointed character development - I wanted more, and found some characters lacking. Other than that ------- highly recommended.
Cheers!Tom, Dick, and Debbie Harry OverviewAfter a whirlwind courtship with Richard, the gentle small-town vet she met in London, Sarah finds herself, to her surprise, moving to Australia as his bride. But on the morning of the wedding itself, she realizes she has made the worst mistake of her life. While the wedding is quickly turning into bad news for some, it's good news for Richard's younger brother Harry, who can at least take some comfort in the fact that his Debbie Harry tribute band has been booked for the reception.Better still, the cute young Wiccan he'd like to date isn't put off by his Blondie obsession.Meanwhile, Richard's best friend Tom is wondering if he's crazy to live with a woman old enough to be his mother.Especially as she disapproves of nearly everything in his life, including Richard and Sarah. The only invited guest not at the wedding is in Sydney.Richard's first wife Bronte, a successful magazine editor, threw her wedding invitation in the trash. But she finds herself mysteriously drawn to visit Richard, despite her best efforts to put those thoughts out of her mind.By the end of the summer, life - and love - will have gotten back on track again, but not before one small town in Australia nearly explodes with heat, and an overdose of passion.

Christian Obscenity: Essays, Stories, and Other Potentially Damning Ramblings ReviewI was very pleased with Scott Douglas' other work, Quiet, Please! In reading that book I was very pleased to discover that he is a conservative Christian. I was interested in more of his "library" blogs, but when I went to his website, I discovered that he had published this little gem also. Christian Obscenity is a collection of essays, stories, and other writings. I really liked the "Christian" porn-star interview, which is laugh out loud funny. Douglas proves that you can have a sense of humor, and even be a little sarcastic, and still be a Christian! I look forward to reading more of his work - I also subscribe to the blog Disturbed Christians . com which Scott is a regular contributor. The site is not to be missed!Christian Obscenity: Essays, Stories, and Other Potentially Damning Ramblings OverviewSelf proclaimed "Christian Humorist," Scott Douglas, compiles up the best of several years of original Christian humor into one hilarious collection. Included in this collection are classic faux interviews with a Christian porn star, Rick Warren, and Dan Brown, among others.

I must say your book was uplifting and very interesting on your thoughts of the other side. I enjoyed it to the end.
Hector ArziaUniverse Of The Mind: The Awakening OverviewThrough the writing of this book our Creator has revealed to me the purpose of my life, that is, to help humanity understand that each of us has a spark of the Divine within us.And with that spark we can do great things. We are all capable of doing everything Jesus Christ or any other ascended master has done, if we just learn how to tap into the unused 90% of our brain. This book is about spirituality (not religion) and some of the changes that are coming to our world. It has predictions about what is coming to our world and how we can learn to prepare for those changes. The knowledge within these pages will invite you to join me in the journey to higher consciousness.

Fighting the Current ReviewTee's senior year of high school should be filled with happy memories of friends, family, and college dreams. It's anything but that. A local drunk hit her father and he's in rehabilitation with the ability of a five-year-old. Since she doesn't have much of a relationship with her mother, Tee is living with an aunt who is a popular author.
It's time for Tee to put her life back together. She is a good student and wants to get an early acceptance to a prestigious university. Ethan is a new student and the two have more than a study relationship.
They find out that they both have home situations that are different than the norm: Ethan's younger sister struggles with cystic fibrosis and, like Tee's father, hospital and doctor visits are a part of life.
Tee's father loved the outdoors and was working with her to build a canoe. It's left unfinished in the garage and it's a reminder of the past. Tee knows she's got to move forward, but where does her father fit in? How about her mother, too, who is longing for the family that she once had?. There are more tragedies ahead, as well. Can Tee rebuild what has been broken and also finish what's been started?
I absolutely loved FIGHTING THE CURRENT. It's one of the best I've read in a long time. I found myself wondering what Tee was going to do. This book was full of unpredictability and surprises. This book's theme appeared to be that even though relationships can change over time, love remains and you have to see it in a different light. I highly recommend this book!

The Sorcerer's Song and the Cat's Meow ReviewA mythical tale exploring and defining the realms of reality and the supernatural, The Sorcerer's Song And The Cat's Meow tells the story of Middle Eastern Sorcerer Aikeem Abdul Jamal Yosaffa, and his faithful feline companion, Pendella Purrfect.
Aikeem, a Sorcerer who has traveled thousands of years perfecting his craft, meets Pendella Purrfect in an alley in New York City. Recognizing that each has a great power for good, they instantly bond and an unconditional love is cultivated. Together, they travel between the world of reality and the magical world of the Dreamscape, a plain of existence that defies the laws of nature. In this magical world, animals such as rats, sloths, felines, and rabbits have the ability to talk, walk upright, and reason. As Aikeem and Pendella Purrfect travel between the two plains of existence, they meet such colorful and unforgettable characters as Striped Seer, Snapper the Cat, Jackenstein Muddleboot, and Blitherskites.
On their magical journey, the forces of good and darkness collide. Threatened by sinister forces seeking to destroy and enslave humanity, a struggle to save humankind emerges. In the city of Avalon, where the fate of humanity resides, dark forces, guided by the ominous creatures Dark Seer and Daagbo, seek to align all the creatures of darkness in an effort to overthrow humanity and replace humans as the occupiers of the real world. Aikeem and Pendella Purrfect enlist those with the power of good to fight the Army of Darkness.
As the tale unfolds, readers are encouraged to use their imagination. A well-plotted story with vivid and riveting description of characters and settings, as well as an intense page turning battle, the book is a delight to read. In today's world, where technology and the quest for superficial material pleasures often act as a deterrent to creative thought, The Sorcerer's Song And The Cat's Meow encourages readers to embrace their dreams. This book would make a great a movie.
I highly recommend this mythical novel to young adults, and to fans of such sorcerer stories as the "Harry Potter" books. The Sorcerer's Song and the Cat's Meow OverviewA cat and her sorcerer, a beautiful dream weaver, an evil voodoo priest, a bunch of man-sized rats, an army of really big bugs, a crazed randy rabbit, some dwarves, dragons and angry three-toed sloths, New York City, the woods of Maine, the sands of Arabia and the mythic lands of Avalon all come together for the wildest most epic adventure you¿ve ever read!!!!

Random Magic ReviewAfter misplacing Alice from the pages of Alice in Wonderland, Henry is sent off by Professor Random into the pages of another book to find her. Henry lands in the story, forgetting his compass, and now having no way to get back. Upon arrival, he meets Winnie Flapjack, a doodle-witch who agrees to help him on his quest to find Alice.
Together the pair search high and low, encounter strange creatures in forests, seek help by vampires, face a group of pirates, and challenge a furious red queen, to find Alice. Will they be able to find her before the sand in the hourglass runs out and save the world by tea time?
Winnie is definitely my favorite character of the many presented in Random Magic. She is brave, determined, witty, and always one step ahead of everything, no matter how confusing her reasoning may be. I wish I could spend a day in Winnie's thoughts and see the world as she does. Henry came in close second for me; he was an interesting character and I truly enjoyed watching him grow as a character, evolving from a scarred and shy little boy into a courageous young man.
My favorite elements of the story are the vividly described settings and the brilliant way Sasha Soren integrates characters from other stories and myths into Random Magic. I appreciate the whole concept of incorporating Alice from Alice in Wonderland without it actually having the same storyline or a remake of the story. I enjoyed seeing Alice being presented in a different light instead of the fairy-tale we are all used to. Random Magic follows Henry and Winnie's adventure in finding Alice, where Alice is more of a secondary character who finds herself in a different book than where she belongs.
Sasha Soren is a wonderful story teller that has a unique writing style. She created a magical world, enchanting, imaginative and filled with fun and adventure. Her readers will feel as though they are taken along for the ride, side by side with Henry and Winnie throughout their journey. Sasha Soren's novel is wonderfully random and captivating, which stays true to the title of Random Magic.
After reading this novel, I can undoubtedly say that I believe in Random Magic. I would definitely recommend Random Magic to anyone who enjoys Young Adult fiction, with lots of fun, magic, and adventure.5/5 - Must Read!!! Loved it!!!Random Magic OverviewRandom Magic: It's a lot like our world, only...completely different. When absent-minded Professor Random misplaces the main character from “Alice in Wonderland," young Henry Witherspoon must book-jump to fetch Alice before chaos theory kicks in and the world vanishes.Along the way he meets Winnie Flapjack, a wit-cracking doodle witch with nothing to her name but a magic feather and a plan. Such as it is.Henry and Winnie brave the Dark Queen, whatwolves, pirates, Strüths, and fluttersmoths, Priscilla and Charybdis, obnoxiously cheerful vampires, Baron Samedi, a nine-dimensional cat, and one perpetually inebriated Muse to rescue Alice and save the world by tea time.Darkly comic (“The Addams Family", "The Princess Bride," “Kind Hearts and Coronets") literary tale for intelligent readers; adults and in-betweens.Best for: Anyone with a sweet tooth for the eerily fantastic, book lovers, people who read in the bathtub, snuggled up in a favorite comfy chair, on trains, in tea rooms and under trees. Or Britcom addicts, closet romantics, deep thinkers who need a little light reading, and fun folks who just love a good story. But also recommended for: Anyone who's had a rough day and longs for the great escape, anyone who's ever read and loved Alice in Wonderland, everyone who believes in everyday magic (or the other kind), smart folks, kind folks, and folks who prefer their -- rather offbeat -- humor black as coal.Advance reader pre-release reviews:* “Brilliant! So full of'of'too much of every sort of something.Lying on the couch, feeling completely out of sorts, you moan to the walls or anyone who happens to be passing that you'd trade your very soul for a teensy smidgeon of peace and quiet. Lo and behold, a rather lovely invitation arrives just at that moment, on a silver salver; a charming scrawl on impressively heavy linen cardstock, embossed with the family crest:Baron and Baroness Such-and-So request the pleasure of your company'Your presence, it appears, is in hot demand at a luxurious weekend soirée in the English countryside.Of course, you go...

The Time Crystal (Octobers) ReviewThis is the perfect book for October! I absolutely loved the world of Hobble and could not wait to get back into it each night. Every chapter is filled with suspense and the cliff hanger endings made it hard for me to put the book down. The relationship between Notch Cricklewood and Pappy is incredibly moving and I find myself re-reading certain chapters to remember Pappy's wise words. I strongly recommend buying all four books at once, because after the first, you will not want to stop reading. The Time Crystal (Octobers) OverviewIn the town of Hobble, October never ends. As soon as Hallows Eve is over, the calendars turn back to October 1st, and the enchanted wonders begin again . . .In this first adventure of the October series, Notch Cricklewood is bored by his life at the Museum Of Wonders, where he lives amongst statues and relics from the distant past. Though his father and grandfather hope for him to apprentice with them at the museum, Notch is hungry to live his own adventures and make history. When all the children in Hobble begin to mysteriously disappear, Notch sets out to solve the vanishings in order to make a name for himself. But when a member of the Vothlor army kills someone close to him, the new war becomes much more personal. Notch's persistence soon leads him on a quest to find the legendary Time Crystal-an ancient relic that gives its possessor the power to change the course of history. If he can find the crystal, he believes he can save the missing kids and bring the dead back to life. But what if the Vothlor find it first?THE TIME CRYSTAL is Book 1 in the innovative new OCTOBERS series by J.H. Reynolds and Craig Cunningham. Journey through the same October through four different perspectives. In addition to THE TIME CRYSTAL, read THE HERMIT'S MANSION (Book 2), THE WATCHTOWER SECRET (Book 3), and the PROTECTOR'S EMERALD (Book 4) to solve all the mysteries of the Vanishing, and embark upon an adventure unlike any you've taken before.
