The Arabian Nights (Illustrated Version) ReviewWe took some time to flip through the Arabian Nights, the last book illustrated by Virginia Frances Sterrett in 1928, before her death, from tuberculosis, two years later. The present edition belongs to the "Vintage books ~ restored" collection and gathers together all the color plates of the original, accompanied by an abridged text based on Jonathan Scott's version. The stories in the book range from Scheherazade's own quest to quench the rage of her master to the classical tales of Sindbad, Ali-Baba, Aladdin, Caliph Haroun Al-Raschid and so on.On the soundtrack we've added the 1st Gnossienne by Erik Satie. We hope you'll enjoy the clip (and the book, and the music) just as much as we did when filming it (and reading it).
The Arabian Nights (Illustrated Version) OverviewThe stories from The Arabian Nights were brought to the Western world by Antoine Galland's translation in 1704 and haven't ceased to delight us ever since. The present edition is based on Jonathan Scott's version (1811) and it is exquisitely illustrated by Virginia Frances Sterrett. This volume belongs to the "Vintage books - restored" collection.
