Banana Hammock (Jack Daniels Thrillers) ReviewI never read the choose your own adventure books but I still managed to set unrealistic expectations for this one.
I thought I would lead the main character through a proper story structure based on my decisions and reach a climax. Once the aliens hit, I was a bit disappointed... for all of 10 seconds and the wrong reasons.
After I understood and accepted the book's odd and outrageous tone, I had a blast. I found myself not caring about anything except having fun for the limited time it provided. This was a refreshing experience because I often read just to hit my goal of at least 50 books in a calendar year. I read too many novels that aren't solid or great. This odd book made me forget all of that. I was back to just enjoying the ride (and it was an odd one).
It was a quick series of adventures and a unique experience. I wish more of these were out for Kindle because they'll probably get closer to what I was expecting (and I will probably enjoy it even more then).
