Rick Steves' Great Britain 2010 with map ReviewI had such a fun and fluid trip with Rick Steves' Great Britian 2008 that I rushed out and bought the 2010 edition to start day dreaming/planning my next trip back. It was my first time in Europe and I went alone for a month with nothing but the guide book and I had a blast! Thanks to the guide book it was totally hassle free. I got good deals on negotiating train tickets and bed and breakfast rooms by knowing the what, where, and why that a good deal was available (rather than just be an obnoxious traveller- an easier roll to slip into than I would have thought). The guide book taught me how to get around, how to balance cash use vs. credit cards, etc., etc. so I could feel comfortable to just relax and play my travel by ear. I can't wait to go back, and thanks in part to Rick Steve's I can afford to go more often or for longer trips because of all the money it saved me. If you're going to spend thousands of dollars traveling to Great Britian, you'd be crazy not to drop ten to twenty bucks on this book. It's worth its weight in "travel" gold.Rick Steves' Great Britain 2010 with map OverviewYou can count on Rick Steves to tell you what you really need to know when traveling in Great Britain. With this guide, you'll explore the misty isle of Great Britain, from lively London to the lush green fields of Wales and the craggy beauty of the Scottish Highlands.Wander the sheep-dotted hillsides of the Lake District, and stroll the promenade at the kitschy beach resort of Blackpool. On Edinburgh's Royal Mile, ask a proud Scot about the local whisky. Trace Britain's history from prehistoric Stonehenge to Roman Bath, and from tout Welsh castles to Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon. After a busy day of sightseeing, relax at a neighborhood pub, sharing a chat and a pint with a friendly local.Rick's candid, humorous advice will guide you to good-value hotels, B&Bs, and restaurants in big cities and small villages. You'll learn how to travel by train, bus, or car and discover which sights are worth your time and money. More than just reviews and directions, a Rick Steves guidebook is a tour guide in your pocket.
